The Tyler Eldred Spirit of NSA Award
The National Speakers Association was formed in Phoenix Arizona in 1973 by Cavett Robert and a group of his friends and business associates. Cavett Robert is a legend among professional speakers for his enthusiasm, encouragement, and inspiration of other speakers. His philosophy of helping and encouraging others has come to be known as “The Spirit of Cavett” and the highest award for service to others in NSA is known as “The Cavett” Award.
Our friend and past NSA Kentucky President, Tyler Eldred, embodied the spirit of Cavett and of NSA in his roles as a speaker, author, trainer, coach, chapter leader, husband, father, and friend. Tyler died on Saturday, February 14, 2009, after he was struck by a falling tree limb while cleaning up from a recent ice storm.
Tyler was the founder and president of LifeChampion International in Buckner, Kentucky, where he trained and coached business leaders, military leaders and others in leadership skills. He believed in doing everything to the best of his ability every day, and taught that in his seminars. He was relentless on growing himself and growing others to become excellent.
Tyler served as President of NSA Kentucky in 2003–2004.
The Board of Directors of NSA Kentucky voted unanimously to rename our Chapter Member of the Year award the Tyler Eldred Spirit of NSA Award. It is awarded each year to the member of NSAKY who most clearly represents the spirit of Cavett, the spirit of Tyler Eldred, and the spirit of NSA Kentucky.
The first annual Tyler Eldred Spirit of NSA Award was presented on May 18, 2009, by Tyler’s wife, Stacy Eldred, to NSAKY Co-Founder and Immediate Past President, Elizabeth Jeffries, CSP, CPAE.
