Steve Boyd
works with people who want to speak and listen more effectively
to increase personal and professional performance.
Stephen D. Boyd has been involved in the study
and practice of communication all his life. At 26, he was the
winner of the 1970 Toastmasters International Speech Contest. At
27, he completed his Ph.D. in Speech Communication from the
University of Illinois.
In 1990, he was named Certified Speaking Professional by the
National Speakers Association. Since 1972, Steve has been on the
faculty of Northern Kentucky University where he is currently
Professor of Speech Communication in the College of Informatics.
He is a sought-after teacher at NKU and a recipient of the
“Outstanding Professor of the Year” award there.
His
articles on communication related topics have appeared in
various magazines and journals, and his three books on public
speaking have sold over 30,000 copies. His most recent book,
"From Dull to Dynamic: Transforming Your Presentations", was
written in collaboration with his son Josh, an associate
professor of communication at Purdue University.
His interest in communication skills and personal development
has taken him beyond the classroom. He conducts seminars for
businesses and associations, coaches executives, and is a
popular after-dinner speaker. In addition to his sales and
corporate communication training, Steve also coached a National
Champion in the American Legion High School Oratorical Contest.
