The NSA Story Competition

The NSA Story Competition is the storytelling competition owned and operated by the National Speakers Association with a goal of raising awareness and heighten the importance and power of storytelling for professional speakers. In every profession there are specific unique skills that qualify an individual as a “Professional.” In the speaking world, one of those critical skills is Storytelling.

NSA KY Chapter-Level Competition

• Chapter Membership Required to compete.
• Entry fee of $25 paid to NSA KY. Proceeds will go towards the winner’s regional entry fee of $500.
• CPAE Award Recipients are not permitted to compete in this competition.
• NSA KY will work with the Chapter Champion on the submission/entry to the Regional Competition.

NSA KY Process

• Fill out an entry form, pay the entry fee, and upload a video online by Nov. 30th, 2023.
• Your story and video must be no longer than 5 minutes. (You do not have to fill the full 5 minutes.) The video must be of a single story only. Contestants that break the 5-minute limit will be disqualified.
• No visuals or presentation materials are allowed. There is a title slide only for each participant.
• A chapter competition committee will pick 10 finalists by Dec. 15th, 2023.
• The 10 finalists will participate in a practice session on Saturday, January 13, 2024 and receive feedback from our chapter’s competition mentor to help you prepare.
• The 10 finalists will compete in-person during our chapter program meeting on January 27th, 2024 at the UofL University Club (our normal meeting location.) A panel of judges will be there to evaluate and select a Chapter Champion.
• The Chapter Champion will move on to the regional competition. The regional competition process is to submit a video to the regional competition committee (details below; this is an NSA National process, not NSA KY).
• The winners of each regional competition will participate in the national competition on the main stage at Influence in August 2024.
